State-of-the-Art Vision Therapy Services in West Tennessee
Vision therapy at Johnson Vision Development Center involves a committed program of weekly in office sessions with a therapist, addition to assigned home therapy. There is a progress report with Dr. Johnson approximately every 10 weeks to evaluate skill development and symptoms. Our vision therapy program focuses on full sensory-motor integration and training the eye skills to be more efficient and accurate. A typical treatment program lasts 3-6 months, but some can take more or less. Every child learns and develops at a different pace.
Our therapy is individualized based on the symptoms and deficiencies noted in the examination and developmental evaluation. Therapists will utilize a variety of tools and medical equipment like therapeutic lenses, prisms, filters, patches, electronic targets with timing mechanisms, balance boards, balance beams and virtual reality systems. All of these activities, while fun for the children, are done in a safe, supervised environment. Our program is goal based and we are committed to improving every child's visual function and performance.
